Pregnancy and Acne

It is very common for women who are pregnant to experience acne. Thankfully, about 2 months after the baby is born, the acne will clear up and your skin will return to normal.
Here are some tips for pregnant women to consider regarding their skin that won’t harm the baby:
- Make a conscious effort to avoid rubbing the area near an outbreak because it spreads the bacteria resulting in a worse skin condition and more pimples.
- After showering or washing your face, lightly pat the skin dry and immediately apply some oil-free moisturizer.
- Be sure to exercise because it increases your blood circulation in the skin, helping it stay healthy and toned. Furthermore, exercise reduces stress, which is a known cause of acne.
- Cleanse daily to control the spread of bacteria on your skin.
- Avoid taking acne medications during pregnancy. Many acne meds in pill form are dangerous to a pregnant woman and her baby. Topical creams are fine because they don’t enter the body, but you may experience abnormalities from oral acne medications
