Your Specific Lifestyle, Stress Factors and The Management Of Your Acne

Your individual lifestyle may not be able the cause for your acne outbreaks, but how you live is a factor that will have affects on your entire body, and that includes your skin.  Things like the activities that you participate in, the long hours you are active, and the location that you work, can each have tremendous affects on your epidermis.  This is especially true in individuals who already experience problems with acne.  Below you will find a few of the most common triggers that cause acne problems and the things that can help you to better be able to avoid those situations.

Do you work around comedones?

Parts of your skin are in constant contac with whatever substances it may be that you work around.  Without even realizing it you could very well be continuously exposing your skin to various substances that are known to clog the pores, or comedones.  Although these specific substances may not be what is causing the acne you suffer from, they can certainly cause aggravation to your acne.  For instance: fast food restaurants are common areas that have large amounts of grease that can be airborne, which will generally leave a film that is invisible and clogging many of the pores on your skin.  Many industrial oils that can be found in factories, used on parts of a bicycle and on cars, can also be considered as comedones.

Sleep and Acne

One of the simplest things you can do to provide for the health of your skin is to get plenty of sleep.  You just might be amazed at how much better your complexion will look by simply getting a full eight hours of sleep.  This is possible because your body is better able to build an immune system that is strong when it has the needed resources that a body that is well rested can give.  Your immune system is not what prevents your acne from occurring, but fighting against infections and inflammation will help tremendously in clearing up acne lesions more quickly.  No matter what time of the day it is that you are able to catch some sleep, ensuring that you maintain some type of schedule that is regular will go a long way in the effort for fighting against acne.

Acne and the Sun

Exposing your skin to the sun in small amounts can actually improve outbreaks of acne, however this improvement is only a temporary one.  Sunbathing continuously will only result in dry skin that can cause more oil to be produced from your sebaceous glands.  When your skin gets sun exposure it also has to work harder in sloughing off the dead skin cells.  Considering the fact that this will produce extra amounts of oil on your skin on top of extra old cells, if your job demands that you stay in the sun for long periods of time you will need to protect yourself with sunscreen and shower as soon as possible.  This will help to unblock the pores that may have become clogged by comedones.

Stress factors and Acne

It is not a surprising fact that stress plays a huge role in problems of acne outbreaks.  There is a chemical connection between the anxiety that is caused from a variety of factors and the blemishes that seem to appear from it on your face.  Tensing up will cause the adrenal glands to begin working and your bloodstream becomes flooded with a hormone known as cortisol.  This will in turn cause the sweat glands that are located in your face to begin producing larger amounts of oil.  Of course when this occurs the mixture of dead skin cells with the excess amounts of oil can clog the pores in your skin and tap the bacteria inside them.  The result unfortunately is more acne.

Can something be done?

We all know that it is impossible to totally take stress completely out of your life, but minimizing the damage that it causes simply by taking the extra steps needed to live a healthier lifestyle.  Plenty of sleep each night and a well balanced diet can help tremendously in situations that may otherwise cause you to become stressed out.  Adequate amounts of exercise each day are also an important aspect of ensuring that you achieve the healthiest body possible.  Any situation that will make you feel calmer is a step in the right direction to enjoying less stress, in turn
