The word Acne is a derivative of a Greek word “akme” which is called as “a highest point” or as “spot” or “point.”
The word Acne is usually termed for the occurrence of white heads, black heads, pimples, and blocked pores. They usually seem to appear on the neck, face, upper arms and rarely on other parts of the body.
Oil glands are one of the reasons to cause acne, and it happens when they are secreted excessively. Acne is a skin’s state, which occurs as a result of excess secretion of sebum. The excess production of oil is due to the change in the male hormone ratio.
Small canal or follicles, which are present under the dermis, act as a platform between the oil glands and the pores of the skin. Acne is a result of blocked pores that may depend on various reasons. Even though, they are not much hazardous, they cause a scar on the surface of the skin.
Mild acne will disappear over time and will not have any serious impact, but when left unnoticed there are more chances for the formation of a scar, which is permanent and irritating. Acne seems to appear for those who are at the age of thirteen to fifteen, and it is all most gone when they reach twenty to twenty five. The acne sustains in the skin for an average time period of five years, but in some exceptional cases, it may even stay for ten years.
Acne is a common happening in a person’s oily skin; it has no relation with the sex, race and mores. The hormonal changes that happen in the teen age are the major cause for this problem. We cannot exactly say that whether, men suffer a lot or women do, all the reports are just predictions, not proofs. The common predictions are found to report that, men to be the maximum sufferers, because of the excessive secretion of the hormones that cause acne.
For a few women the acne production is prominent, but for most of the females, it occurs during the menstrual period, due to the excessive secretion of the Androgen hormone, leaving blemishes in the skin. However, the worst case of acne production in women is recorded when they intake contraceptive pills for birth control. To be on the safe side, women should consult their physician for this issue.
The external factors alone do not count for acne; it sustains and multiplies in the skin because of the person itself, who is suffering from it. Yes, by squeezing or pricking a pimple the situation becomes worse. So it is highly safe to not to rub, pinch or touch the affected skin. In addition, constant medication should be taken for the complete cure.
However, as a side effect your skin will become dry, so you should have some amount of sunlight exposure, so that the bad bacterium is killed along with the soreness. Nevertheless, this practice should be limited; otherwise, you will have to face the other consequences. Thus, timely treatment alone will do good to solve this problem.
