Accutane Info & Side Effects

Posted on 03. Mar, 2009 by admin in Acne Treatments

Derived from Vitamin A, Isotretinoin, or Accutane is an acne-fighting pill that a patient is supposed to take daily for around 20 weeks. Within the allotted time, results have shown to completely clear up even the most severe cases of acne, and in other cases, prevent acne from reoccurring in future.

During treatment, Accutane reduces the amount of oil the sebaceous glands produce. Quite literally, this product alters the skin’s natural oil secretion, which effectively prevents the spread of acne. A proven treatment for acne, Accutane is a strong drug and a consult with a dermatologist is required, as is a prescription.

While taking Accutane, many patients experienced side effects such as severe dry lips, eye inflammation, thinning hair, and in very few cases, stomach pain or difficulty breathing. Because Accutane is a powerful drug, and asĀ  you would do with any other powerful drug, exercise caution while doing physical activity.
