Acne: Herbal and Natural Remedies

Posted on 13. Jan, 2009 by admin in Acne Treatments

Acne is a condition faced by nearly everyone, a skin ailment able to dash self-confidence in an instant. While the stereotypical acne sufferer is a pimple-faced teenager bumbling along the road better known as puberty, adults are equally affected.

In most cases, a trip to the dermatologist results in a prescription for a topical cream, or perhaps a round of antibiotics. In fact, antibiotic treatments are typically the most effective, given the fact that pimples are formed by bacteria entering the pores. However, the harsh side effects of antibiotics can prove to be worse than the results.

So what else is there? Well, besides the fact that acne is caused by bacteria, offset chemical levels in the body also play a large role.

To reset these levels, a detoxification plan is necessary, aided by safe, natural treatments. Some of these natural acne treatments are herbal, effective in both teens and adults. When using an herbal treatment, many find that the detoxification, and therefore reconciliation of hormone levels in the body has a wide effect, clearing up several conditions at once.

In men, these hormonal “fixes” can mean better prostate health, and in women, a hormonal balance can have tremendous effects on the menstrual cycle; in this case, the results include less cramping, bloating, irritability, and less acne.

So, what are the some of the herbal treatments available? The top three are lobelia, kelp, and ginger, all available at the local supermarket.

Lobelia is a “starter” detox medication, as it helps improve the flow of oxygenated blood. This increased flow thus helps to dislodge and remove various toxins and forms of congestion.

The second, kelp, is a multi-faceted detox treatment, and is a concentrated source of vitamins and minerals. Through this mix of vitamins and minerals, it can actually help fix nutrient imbalances in the body. With these imbalances fixed, acne and other skin conditions begin to clear up immediately.

Last, ginger is an herb that while known for its use in Asian cuisine, is a potent detoxifier. Ginger helps to purify the bowels and kidneys, encourage proper circulation, and above all, force toxins out of the body.

You’ve seen the ends, and you’ve seen the means, so tell me, which is better? Would you rather feel sick taking a heavy-duty round of antibiotics, or calmly proceed with your daily schedule and watch your acne melt away under a herbal treatment? The choice is yours; the clock is ticking.
