How Acne Can Affect You

Affecting youth at their most vulnerable stage in life, acne causes some deep problems many people are unaware of. Often times acne causes depression and social withdrawal as well as painful scarring on the inside and out.
A surprising fact about acne depression is that the severity of the condition has nothing to do with the level of emotional scarring. Children with horrible acne and those with a couple breakouts a year feel the same way about the condition of their skin and how it is visible to the public. This embarrassment can cause unhappiness and thoughts of outrageous solutions to their problems, both common symptoms of depression.
Because many adolescents suffer from depression because of acne, they have the tendency to veer away from peer activity and seclude themselves from others. In some very severe cases, children have been known to develop a phobia of people seeing their faces. They will hide in everyway possible and truly need psychological help.
