Acne is one such condition, which comes under the field of dermatology, experienced by every physician in practice. Acne starts attacking in the early adolescence period, and then continues even in older ages. It actually begins on the onset of puberty, along with the hormonal changes in the human body.

If left untreated or when mishandled, it leaves scars. Scars or the blemishes are the annoying red points in the skin, which makes one self, feel inferior. This problem is always irksome, as it occurs in the various visible sections of the human body. Faces with scars, are not that pleasant, and as a result, confidence level goes down.

When the acne emerges out, due to the excessive secretion of sebum, the human system tries to fix it, with the treatment of the white blood cells. It is an in bound process happening in the human body, without the knowledge of the individual.

This cannot be considered as a complete treatment, as it leaves behind scars. Therefore, it is the individual effort and medication that counts, to be a remedy for curing this irritating disorder. Rather than worrying, for this irksome problem, one should better analyze what it is. Initially, the skin type of the individual and the type of scar present should be tested and analyzed.

Generally scars are formed either, because of the loss of tissue cells or due to the rise of tissue cells, inside the skin. The intensifying of the tissue cells can be called, as the keloids, which piles up and gives out fibrous mass of tissues, which appears to be a scar in the skin. The thickness of the scar may vary from one to two millimeter, where as the length exceeds 1 cm.

These may either fortunately disappear, or may sustain permanently in the skin. The other case is similar to that of the chicken pox, where the top surface of the skin is worn out. They are commonly called as the ice prick scars, and their most prone spot is the cheeks. To look at, they are small, with serrated edges and slightly steep sides.

Their texture may be hard, soft, shallow or even deep depending on the effect in the individual and his or her body conditions. When this sustains for a long time, in the skin it leads to fibrotic scars, with long, sharp edges. There is an also superficial type of a scar, which are extremely soft to touch with oblique edges and usually gets embedded in the skin.

The other type is the Atropic type of scars, which has a fair shape, somewhat blue at the initial stage, and then turns into ivory later, which cannot be that easily identified. It is usually found in the chest and back, and can be termed as the semi developed white heads. Perifollicular elastolys is the scientific term for the above-mentioned condition. Thus, the analysis and treatment is definitely a must, to get rid of these acne problems and to get a healthy skin.

Acne is a common skin irritation that is more prone to the teenagers, and to the adults, at times irrespective of their race, ethnicity and gender. The scientific name for this is ‘acne vulgaris’, which is often found in the visible portions of the body such as the face, neck, hands and so on.

This skin trouble has been a frustration all over the world over the years. The most severe happening that the acne causes is the ‘scar’. A scar can be rightly defined as a blemish in the skin, which results in red points and irritation.

There is yet another topic to be discussed, to get the detailed knowledge of scars. Yes, the ‘spots’ which caused by the acne, is truly harmless as it leaves no scars. Therefore, you need not worry, for a spot in your skin, but should put up with the embarrassment and the irritation. The technical terms for the spots are ‘macule’ or the ‘pseudo-scars’, which causes red points in the skin.

The annihilation of the swollen acne in the surface of the skin leaves behind a temporary mark, which can only last up to maximum of six months, with no left out traces, and this is, rightly a spot. A scar is not harmless like the spot; it has various types that are classified according to its intensity in the skin. The reasons that count are the damage of the tissue, itching of the upper skin, loss of tissue, unwanted tissue formation and so on.

Therefore, the upper dermis of the skin is damaged and significantly is discolored as well. So the scars can be considered as the ultimate ‘tissue injury’, which requires a ‘tissue repair’ as soon as possible.

The two major types of scars are the ‘keloids’ which can be other wise called as the hypertropic scars and the ice-prick scars. The above-mentioned rigorous condition of the skin is due to the blocked bacterial content and the excessive secretion of collagen in the human body. The over produced collagen, gets piled up, resulting in development of fibrous masses, which eventually leaves an irregular bulging in the skin called, the scars.

Whenever the skin faces a tissue injury, the entire human body gets alert and fires up its own, natural inbuilt soldiers’ i.e., the white blood cells, combined with the inflammatory molecules to fight this damage and repair it, to a possible extent. This WBC repair, is not perfect with complete cure, and it eventually leads to a cluttered site of fibrous tissue, leaving behind erosion in back end of the skin.

The scar’s concentration is variable; it solely depends on the effect of intensity that it causes in the individual’s skin. Luckily, for some, it may leave soon, for others it will remain long and create frustrating problems. The marks left by scars are permanent, but it can be definitely treated one or the other day. If it disappears by time, well and good, otherwise remodeling of the skin, along with medication should be done.

Has Acne Left Embarrassing Scars On Your Skin? – There Are Treatment Options Available That Can Help

There are as many as 99% of both teens and adults who are affected with the bothersome symptoms and scars that acne can cause at some point in their life. When acne is left untreated it can ultimately cause a large amount of dyspigmentation and scarring on individuals who suffer from this frustrating problem for a couple of months, a couple of years, and in some cases for a lifetime. Acne is a problem that is generally temporary, but the scarring that is often left behind can be a serious problem that affects a person’s entire life. This is one reason why it is so important to find a treatment that works right for your skin as soon as you possibly can.

When you have noticed that you already suffer from scarring on your skin due to acne outbreaks, there are a variety of treatments that can provide a great deal of improvement in the look and feel of your skin. These treatments would include laser phototherapy, conventional surgery techniques, as well as filler substances for the skin. These items can also be used either alone, or in a combination with one another.

Classifying The Type Of Scarring On Your Skin

Your physician will need to make the proper determination on the exact type of scars from acne that you have before the proper treatment can be selected.

Boxcar Scars – This type of scarring is very similar in appearance to scars caused from chicken pox, and they are generally 3mm in diameter.

Ice-Pick Scars – This type of scarring is generally from 1 to 2 mm in diameter.

Rolling Scars – This type of scarring received their name because of how it looks on the skin. The cause of this scarring is from fibrous bands that are abnormal and they are generally between 4 and 5 mm in diameter.

Another problem that frequently occurs after acne has developed is reddened skin that is persistent and an increase or decrease in the skins pigmentation.

Your Options Of Treatment

The treatments that are available would include fillers for the skin, resurfacing of the skin done by laser treatments, and subcision surgery. Before any of these procedures are performed your physician will need to do a thorough examination of the skin first.

Subcision surgery is performed after you have been given a local anesthetic. The doctor will then carefully locate and cut the fibrous bands that are held within the deep layers of your skin. This is also a technique that is commonly used on individuals who have rolling scars or shallow boxcar scars.

The technique that is commonly used for boxcar scars that are deep would be a combination of both the punch elevation and the punch excision, and for these procedures you are given anesthesia. A special instrument is first used to remove the entire scar, however punch grafting is a technique that is often also used for the more successful results. During this procedure the tissue is lifted instead of the scar being removed. Boxcar scars that are shallow can also be treatment using this method. Tissue normally sits just above the surround areas of skin, and then it retracts as the skin begins to heal, which causes it to level out with the rest of the skin. Resurfacing the skin is a method that can be performed in using either laser techniques or chemical peels.

Resurfacing The Skin Using Lasers

Using this technique the epidermal layer of your skin along with a portion of the dermal layer that is beneath the top layer. The results leave your skin feeling much smoother after the healing process has completed.
Treatments Used In A Combination Of One Another

Generally the surgical methods along with therapies that are used for resurfacing are used in combination with each other. If you are an individual taking Accutane, you will need to wait approximately 6 to 12 months to avoid any type of complications before using a laser or surgical method of treatment.

If you are contemplating the idea of trying any of these treatments, you need to keep in mind that before improvements are noticed you will need to be well equipped with a great deal of patience and time. If a patient receives anywhere from 30 to 60% improvement in the amount of scarring they started with, these results are considered to be reasonable and successful.

Most people generally want a clear, beautiful complexion. When it comes to acne, it is understandable to do whatever it takes to make it disappear, even squeezing your tender skin until every milliliter of puss is gone to flatten things out. However, this type of behavior can lead to long-term problems like scars. On the plus side, there are a lot of options to help those suffering with acne scarring. Some procedures are surgical and some are not, but the vast majority of the following treatments have a tremendous effect on the appearance of acne scars.

Surgical Acne Scar Treatment Options:

1) Laser Resurfacing – This type of treatment removes the surface layer of your skin causing injury with heat. How this works, is that when your skin is healing, your skin reforms itself new and free of scars with an added bonus of a deep layer of collagen.

2) Microdermabrasion – With the use of aluminum crystals, microdermabrasion exfoliates your skin. This type of treatment works best for fine scars. It is advised to get microdermabrasion once a week for 6 weeks.

3) Photo rejuvenation – This type of treatment uses a special broadband light laser to remove acne scars by promoting the formation of new collagen.

Non-Surgical Acne Scar Treatment Options:

1) Cover-Up – Although the use of makeup to solve your acne problems is usually frowned upon, there are specially-formulated foundations that improve your complexion rapidly and efficiently. A dermatologist can match your skin tone perfectly to achieve a flawless look, as well as recommend a non-acnegenic formula perfect for you.

2) Chemical Peel – A chemical peel improves your skin tone overall, causing scars to be less noticeable. However, they do not directly remove acne scars.

3) Surface Creams – Agents such as these do well to improve current acne, reduce the appearance of scars, and gently exfoliate collagen production.

There have been eight proven ways to improve the appearance of acne scars and help you feel better about your skin and how other people see you. Acne scars may not be life threatening, but they have awful effects on self esteem. Almost every adolescent has had some sort of trouble with acne and breakouts which often lead to scarring. Here are some tips to help you get rid of acne scars:

1. Chemical Skin Peels – This treatment peels the skin off with chemicals, revealing a new, fresh portion free of scarring.

2. Dermabrasion – This treatment removes the damaged layers of your skin to reduce the signs of acne scaring. The outer layer is removed, as is the scar. The skin will be smooth and clean.

3. Healthy Diet – Eat a balanced diet filled with foods that have solid nutrition. It is proven that the healthier you eat, the better your skin condition.

4. Laser Resurfacing – While being most effective at removing acne scars, the laser is applied directly to the skin and heals the affected area. This procedure may even prevent wrinkles.

5. Rosewater and Sandalwood – The combination of these two are very affective at removing scars. Make a paste with sandalwood and rosewater, apply it to your skin, let it sit overnight and rinse it off in the morning.

6. Hydrate your Skin – Water is beneficial to your body as a whole. It cleanses the body of toxins and will help remove acne scars, and help them heal quicker.

7. Rose hip Seed Oil – This ingredient is great because it rejuvenates skin cells, helping repair the damaged skin.

8. Vitamin E – Taking a Vitamin E supplement will eliminate scars, because it speeds up your skins renewal process and helps heal cells.
